Remember playing the game, Monopoly®? Maybe you still do today with your kids.
I remember there was a card in each deck of cards – The Community Chest and the Chance cards – called “get out of jail free.”
Funny enough, on the game board, there was a space that sent you directly to jail. You didn’t do anything wrong. You rolled the dice, followed the game rules, moved your spaces, and through no choice or cause of your own, you wound up in jail.
You know, do not pass Go. Don’t collect $200. Just go.
These days, as I look around, I see so many people who have found themselves without jobs, money and feel as though they’ve lost their direction in life.
For many, they have lost something more important – they’ve lost hope.
Strangely though, somehow everything really is happening the way it’s supposed to. You may need to read that last sentence again.
Take a healthy in-depth look at the life you’ve been living, the people you’ve been spending your time with and what you’ve been spending your money on. Is this really the life you want to talk about in 10 or 20 years?
If it’s not, then you just got that funny little card hidden in the deck of life – get out of jail free.
Take this time to let bygones be bygones. Think about the people you’d really like to spend your time with. Then ask yourself: have you been doing that?
Is it that you don’t know them yet? Or are they right there in your life but you’ve chosen to spend your time with others?
It’s a natural law that you will become the people you are around. I encourage you to read that sentence again.
If you want to be happy and feel positive, fill your life with happy, positive people. Gently let the others fall away from you. The less attention you give them, the further away they’ll fall. You know, the old “lost touch with them” scenario.
Be thoughtful about what you choose to do now. Come from a place of Joy and Love.
Even in the toughest, most challenging times, you can do it!
Instead of rushing into a new job or relationship, really think about and connect with what you enjoy and love to do. When you do that, everyone benefits. Others get the right person to work with, and you feed your Soul with Joy and a fulfillment that comes from really loving what you do and seeing how doing it makes a difference for others.
Life is not about creating one proverbial jail for ourselves after another.
It is really about being free and being who you are. Expressing your Joyful Self and sharing that Joy with those you choose to be around.
So take your last “get out of jail free” card from the deck of life and go! Live the life you’ve imagined.
It’s not too late…not by a long shot.
You can start building it now – in whatever situation, condition or circumstance you are in.
You Can Do It!
