Remember when you were a tiny tot, maybe 4 or 5 or 6 years old?
Our worlds were so simple then. We said so, therefore, we were… Batman or a princess or a fireman or a doctor or nurse.
We ruled the tiny world and microcosm we lived in. We got a lot of sleep. We ate, ran around and got a lot of exercise. We drank a lot of water and somehow somewhere someone cared about us. We believed in ourselves and created the world we wanted to live in.
Not everyone has the luxury of growing up this way. It doesn’t matter if you did or didn’t.
If you did, remember the days when it felt like you ruled the world? When you wanted to eat, you could. When you wanted to run, you could. When you wanted to sleep, you could and above all, you felt safe and cared for.
These days, it’s up to you to provide a safe, clean environment for yourself where you care for you. No matter what anyone else says or does, no one – and I mean NO ONE – can take away your sense of who you are or what you are capable of.
Eleanor Roosevelt profoundly stated, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
Today, just like when you were a little kid, you can still rule the world.
Do it, though, with a dash of compassion for others who may not feel so confident or comfortable with themselves.
As the great song by Tears For Fears goes, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.”
If you want some helpful hints for how to do it, watch a 4, 5 or 6 year old sometime. They’ll be happy to show you how simple it can really be to truly rule the world.
You Can Do It!
