Have you ever been in a conversation or situation with someone and gotten confused about whether you had done something to provoke what they’re saying or doing?
You know, the ones where you’re scratching your head and thinking: “What did I do to deserve this?”
It could be a family member, friend, business professional, client, boss or colleague.
Although there are some instances in which you may have done something to set off someone else, oftentimes it’s actually not about you at all. It’s about them.
We learn many of our most valuable lessons by interacting with each other.
We are often facilitators for each other so we can learn from how we are treating others, how they treat us and ultimately, how we treat ourselves.
It is important to understand that if you feel uncomfortable in a situation or conversation with someone, chances are that there’s a lesson in there somewhere.
Remember: we are all here to live and learn.
Before you choose to take anything personally, ask yourself: “Whose lesson is this anyway?”
Be a willing participant in someone else’s life learnings. Set your boundaries and do not compromise your values or safety.
When you engage in the situation with compassion, love and care, you’ll learn a lot yourself and everyone will benefit.
You Can Do It!
